Gypsy Rose Blanchard Says She Wants to Trade Fame With a 9-To-5 Job

After gaining notoriety for matricide, Gypsy Rose Blanchard says she’s had enough of fame.
The 32-year-old served 8 years in prison for conspiring to murder her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Since her December release, she’s been adjusting to life outside jail which has been well-documented by the media. From countless news articles to a raw and revealing Lifetime docuseries Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, viewers have had a front-row seat to her transition.
After everything that has gone down, she realized fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. “Everything’s been hyped up, and I’ve had some great opportunities, but I don’t see them lasting. There comes a time when I have to make a choice,” the former incarcerated star shared in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight.
“And that is, when do I say enough is enough? And I think after so long of having my name in the spotlight, that time is coming really soon,” she added.
The reality star revealed she doesn’t want to be in front of the cameras forever. Gypsy admitted that she would be quite content trading her glitz and glamor-filled lifestyle with a 9 to 5 job.
“Part of me is like, maybe I should just go work at McDonald’s. I love those French fries!” she said. Gypsy Rose is also content with retail; “Maybe something at the mall, like makeup or Sephora or something—because I love makeup,” she elaborated.
This revelation comes after a video recently went viral for theorizing that Gypsy Rose was probably never abused. It also alleged that the chromosome disorder she was diagnosed with in 2011 has been responsible for several of her health issues.
“This chromosome disorder quite literally explains every single thing that Gypsy had. Seizures, disturbance of the eye, heart problems, increased possibility of behavioral mental health, unusual facial feature,” the TikToker explained.
Gypsy Rose responded by saying that her abuse is being “invalidated by [those] who do not have any psychological education to back up their claims.”
“Don’t ask me to relieve my trauma for your personal curiosity; don’t demand to know the answers to questions that have no relevance in your life; don’t expect me to have overcome my past on your time. Don’t tell me about my mistakes and choices when I am who has to live with them on my conscience; don’t project what you want me to be because you find it more interesting,” she penned in a statement on IG.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard reiterated, “I am NOT a celebrity. I AM a trauma survivor who is healing from emotional, mental, and medical abuse.”
Regardless of the accusations, Gypsy Rose seems determined to re-adjust. “I’m still working on driving. I need to get my driver’s license, as I’ve said before. So to get to a job I need to know how to drive,” Gypsy shared as she sought to regain a sense of normalcy in her controversial life.
For once, the internet agrees with her.
“She wants to live a normal life. That’s understandable,” one user wrote.
Some even came to her defense when negative POVs rolled in. “This girl has endured unimaginable suffering and abuse since birth then prison for ten years I feel like no one can judge her and let the girl find some peace and happiness,” another commented.
