Zayn Malik Says He Got Kicked Off Tinder Because No One Believed It Was Him

Zayn Malik Says He Got Kicked Off Tinder Because No One Believed It Was Him

It’s official! You’re not the only one having trouble finding love on dating apps.

Zayn Malik is in the same boat.

In a cover story with Nylon, published on May 14, the former One Direction heartthrob spilled the tea about his unsuccessful attempt to get back into dating.

Tinder has “not been too successful for me,” he explained in his rich Yorkshire accent. “Everyone accused me of catfishing. They’re like, ‘What are you using Zayn Malik’s pictures for?,” he shared.

He added, “I’ve been kicked off once or twice.”

The “Dusk Till Dawn” singer also had no qualms revisiting his past relationships and family dynamics, providing more context into who he is today.

“My parents were kind of old-school, so I never brought a girlfriend home….When I got the chance to do that, I jumped straight in, two feet first, and was like, ‘I’m going to have a girlfriend, and she’s going to live with me. This makes me a grown man.”

He mentioned his relationship with singer-songwriter Perrie Edwards from Little Mix.  “From 17 to 21, I was in a relationship. I was engaged and [planned to get] married and I didn’t know anything about anything at that point. I thought I did, because I was 21. I was legally allowed to do everything, but I didn’t know s**t,” he confessed.

“It’s probably wise to take your time before you fully invest in another human being as a lifelong partner,” Malik speculated.

New Album

The “Pillowtalk” singer offered a breakdown of his fresh new album in a recent episode of The Zach Sang Show. Though it got people talking, it wasn’t because of his music.

Malik revealed, “I don’t know if I’ve ever actually truly been in love at this point.” He later added that he loves the little girl he shares with Gigi Hadid.

So, what does he think about love? With some naivete, Malik described the experience as being “in love with somebody who is a complete separate entity—they’re not my family, I have no blood with them, like, I’m in love with this person, you know? I don’t know.”

Unfortunately, none of us will find him on Tinder as he has given up on dating apps and meeting new people.

“I’m really content and happy with being single for the first time in my life,” the singer declared.

We’ll just have to move to the second-best thing—Malik’s country album Room Under the Stars. Scheduled for a May 17 release, the British songwriter shared, “I was pretty much on my farm having a glass of whiskey and listening to a bit of Stapleton by the fire with my dog, playing guitar.”

He wrote 12 out of 15 songs on the album.

In the interview, the father of Khai also compared his old tracks with the new. “When I listen to old songs, there’s less presence for me as a human being with conviction behind the mic. And that’s why this record feels special to me. There’s a consistent level of conviction throughout, because every story came from me and means something to me,” he remarked.
