Ariana Grande’s Ex-Husband Will Receive Millions of Dollars From Divorce

Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez finalized their divorce last Tuesday at the Los Angeles Superior Court. Though it marks the end of three years of marriage, it looks like Dalton has a huge payout coming up.

Based on their agreement, Ariana will make a one-time payment to Dalton worth $1.25 million with no future alimony. She will also shoulder up to $25,000 of her ex’s attorney’s fees and give him half of the proceeds from the sale of their LA home which is estimated to be worth millions of dollars.

According to court documents, the 30-year-old hitmaker and 28-year-old real estate broker separated more than a year ago. Since they have a pre-nuptial agreement, no legal disputes regarding the divorce, and no children, their divorce was quickly finalized.

While both parties agreed to a divorce settlement last October, the ex-couple had to wait for the customary six months before a judge could issue an order.

Like most California divorce cases, Ariana’s petition declared irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation.

Recall that the two started dating in January 2020 and were quarantined together during the global pandemic. In May of the same year, the two were seen in the video of Justin Bieber’s charity single “Stuck With U.” By December 2020, they had announced their engagement.

They married on May 15, 2021, at Ariana’s Montecito home through an intimate ceremony. In July 2023, the two declared that they had gone their separate ways and Ariana filed for divorce in October.

Short-lived celebrity relationships are nothing new but Ariana’s divorce was particularly controversial because of the singer’s infidelity and who she chose to have an extramarital affair with. Ariana went public with her relationship with Ethan Slater, her co-star in the musical Wicked.

Based on the timeline of events, it appeared that Ariana had an affair with Ethan while they were both still married to other partners. In addition to the fact that Ethan was already married to his long-time sweetheart whom he wedded in 2018, his wife was with child at the time. Ethan and his wife, Lilly Jay, welcomed their son last August.

A source close to Ariana shared that Dalton and the singer tried to fix their marriage and give it another go. Dalton even traveled to London where Ariana was based at the time but the attempt failed.

Ariana has since been heavily criticized for wrecking Ethan and Lilly Jay’s marriage. Her new single, however, suggests that Dalton cheated on Ariana first. According to some listeners of Ariana’s new song, “Eternal Sunshine,” the lyrics accuse Dalton of being unfaithful.

The following lines specifically hint at possible unfaithfulness, “Now she’s in my bed, laying on your chest. Now I’m in my head wondering how this ends.”

If Dalton had indeed cheated on the singer first, fans feel that Ariana deserves an apology, especially after the intense backlash she received following their separation.

“Ariana Grande was with a cheater for 2 years & then after finally getting out of that relationship, the media painted her as a homewrecker/cheater when SHE was the one that was being cheated on & she probably didn’t have the strength to leave,” said one angry X user.
