Kate Beckinsale Hospitalized After Several Personal Tragedies

Friends and family of Kate Beckinsale are worried about the actress after she shared that she has been hospitalized.

The 50-year-old actress has been grieving the death of Roy Battersby, her stepfather, who died earlier this year after suffering from a massive stroke on top of fighting two kinds of cancer. Aside from the loss, Kate has played a significant role in caring for her mother, Judy Loe, who also has her own health challenges.

After several difficult months, the Underworld actress revealed that she, too, has begun experiencing health issues. Last Monday, Kate shared a couple of tearful selfies from a hospital bed.

During her Mother’s Day post, Kate uploaded images of her mother enjoying cake and champagne alongside a couple of selfies at a hospital ward with her dogs playing in the background.

Kate captioned the pictures with, “Happy birthday and UK Mother’s Day this last week to my incredible mother. Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s s**t and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t.”

She continued, “And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us. And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love. Thank you for loving us, those who do, and for the amazing, kindest Nick, and especially for my mother’s capacity for joy. It is so inspiring and beautiful.”

She ended with, “Happy everything, mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you x.”

So far, Kate hasn’t shared the reason why she’s in the hospital, but many are speculating that the emotional toll of the past months may have caught up with the actress.

Kate has been caring for her mother and late stepfather. She even flew them out from the UK to Los Angeles to be closer to them. One source shared, “Kate has been caring for her parents, who both have serious illnesses, for most of the year. She brought them to her home in LA and has made looking after them her number one priority.”

The same insider continued, “Kate was spotted this week several times crying in the corridors of UCLA hospital. Her friends are concerned that she has been under relentless strain for months and hardly sleeps or eats. Kate appears to be very strong, but this has been incredibly hard and, given that she lost her father so young, is affecting her very deeply. Her friends are concerned for her own health.”

Another source explained that Judy has chosen to keep her health struggles private, sharing, “She’s extraordinary; you wouldn’t even know by looking at her. She has been keeping a very positive attitude throughout everything.”

So far, Kate’s representatives have not released any statement about the wellbeing of the actress.
