Mama June Teaser Has Fans Asking, “Who Will Pay for Honey Boo Boo’s College?”

Mama June Teaser Has Fans Asking, “Who Will Pay for Honey Boo Boo’s College?”

Mama June’s daughter, “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, is preparing to go to college but it seems like Mama June is unwilling to financially support her daughter’s tuition in any way. This was revealed in a recent clip of Mama June: Family Crisis’ episode.

Based on the video obtained by People, the 44-year-old reality star was heard rebuffing her daughter, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, after she encouraged her mother to contribute to Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson’s, college fund. The new clip didn’t show Mama June on camera but focused on Pumpkin while she was on a phone call with her mother.

With her hair still wet and wrapped in a towel, the 24-year-old Pumpkin called her mother as she tried to get cozy in bed. After mentioning to her mother that she was relaxing after her bath, Mama June replied, “I wish I could relax.”

Pumpkin used the sentiment to kickstart a difficult conversation. She said to her mother, “Well, hell, I’m done relaxing now. I called to tell you that me and [husband] Josh [Efird] decided that we’re going to go ahead and take Alana to Colorado.”

This didn’t sit well with Mama June who said that she didn’t think it was a wise move. According to her, Alana “needed to get her s*** together.”

Pumpkin agreed and proceeded to ask her mother to check on her sister’s Coogan account. Setting up a Coogan account for a child performer is mandated by law to protect their earnings from guardians. It requires guardians to save a percentage of their earnings so the children have a financial fallback once they become adults. Its guidelines dictate that the child can only access the funds once he or she turns 18 years old.

Pumpkin continued her conversation with her mother and suggested, “You’re not forking any money out, and her college payments are due very soon,” which Mama June acknowledged.

Surprisingly, Mama June seems dead set on not doing anything to support her youngest daughter financially. Pumpkin continued, “So, I mean [you’ll] still [do] nothing, like, even if we found her house and go to the college and stuff, you’re not gonna help pay for anything?”

Mama June’s answer was quick and unexpected, “If she can’t invest in her own self, then why should I? What money are you and Josh willing to put up?” Pumpkin reminded her mother that she was not Alana’s mom, but Mama June was not satisfied at all.

Recall that Pumpkin filed for full custody of her sister back in 2022 after Honey Boo moved in with her and her family in 2019. Their mother was arrested for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Mama June was sentenced to 100 hours of community service. She also continued attending therapy sessions to salvage what was left of her relationship with her daughters.

For years, Pumpkin stepped up and fulfilled the role of mom to her sister. Feeling like her mother was avoiding her financial obligations to Alana, Pumpkin told her, “The point is you’re not willing to help at all, and it does make Alana think that you don’t believe in her. I mean, do you say we just had the money to up and fly to Colorado? We’re doing that because we believe in her. That’s what a mother does.”

The conversation left Pumpkin exhausted and frustrated. Pumpkin and her husband have been supporting Honey Boo Boo for years now. They’re anxious for their mother to take on some responsibility but it seems like Mama June has other priorities.

The next reality show episode airs on March 15, 9 PM EST.
