Is Camila Cabello’s New Single One of the “Worst Songs Ever”?
A snippet of Camila Cabello’s latest single, “I Luv It,” has been released and it’s been heavily criticized so far. Some critics even called it one of the “worst songs ever.”
While the 27-year-old singer’s hit song “Havana” was well received, this new track, which is part of her upcoming album, has been a huge flop. Posted last March 6, most comments were less than enthusiastic while others were downright discouraging.
Through her social media account, the gorgeous singer shared a snippet of her new song and captioned it with, “Coming soon(er than you think) xoxo. c.”
In one uploaded clip, Camila could be seen leaning out of a car window as she twisted violently and sang to the camera. Although Camila and her production team were likely aiming for seductive and sexy, many followers couldn’t help but compare and associate it with the movie Hereditary. To be exact, it reminded many viewers of one of the film’s violent scenes where one of the characters was decapitated by a telephone pole after leaning out of a moving car’s window.
Camila uploaded a second clip on her social media account, this time featuring grainy clips of the singer attending a Miami Heat game. It showed her hugging the athlete Jimmy Butler while she was with influencer Alex Earle.
Recall that before the game between the Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons last March 5, Jimmy was seen wearing the alleged title of Camila’s new single, “I Luv It.” Because of it, the hype around Camila’s new single became stronger. Alas, the clips she uploaded proved to be a disappointment for many.
One X user wrote, “I’m not joking when I say this has the potential to be the worst song unleashed on the public of all time.” This Tweet sparked criticism, with another user replying, “This is easily gonna be the worst song of the year.
Another unhappy listener agreed and commented, “Camila Cabello’s new song is hurting every fibre of my psyche.”
Meanwhile, another fan shared their thoughts on how it sounded by saying, “Song sounds like two tabs open on your computer playing at the same time.”
Another noted, “That new Camilla Cabello song is unironically stuck in my head. I fear that lady knew what she was doing in the earworm studio.”
As the negative feedback poured in, many believed it was a publicity stunt. One fan theorized, “‘Ppl not realizing Camila Cabello’s new song sounds like s**t on purpose is so funny. Like guys, it’s a marketing scheme.”
Apart from the speculations, some of the fans shared their thoughts when songwriter and singer Charli XCX took a swipe at Camila’s song. The “Speed Drive” artist posted a video of herself in a car’s backseat, a scene that’s very similar to Camila’s video. What’s worse, Charli captioned it with “LOL,” inviting everyone to speculate and conclude as they wished.
Camila’s new song can be previewed here. See for yourself if it’s indeed one of the “worst songs ever.”
