Here’s Why the People’s Choice Awards Missed Its Favorite Kardashian

The world has revealed its favorite Kardashian, and not-so-surprisingly, it is none other than Khloe. Sadly, she couldn’t attend the coronation, as it were. 

At the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, Koko (as she’s fondly known) was voted Reality TV Star of the Year for her show with her family, The Kardashians. But she wasn’t present at the award ceremony to accept the trophy, much to her fans’ dismay. 

Khloe took to Instagram to express her thanks and told her followers why she was AWOL on February 18th at the award show in Santa Monica, California. In the post, she graciously made it a point to explain her absence. 

“I do just wanna say why I wasn’t there last night. I suffer from really extreme migraines … there was not much else that could have kept me away from being there last night, so thank you guys,” she said in a video posted on February 19th.

“I am so incredibly thankful and blown away. This makes no sense to me. The very first couple years, I thought, ‘This has to be a fluke. People feel bad for me,’” she added while sharing her gratitude. 

The 39-year-old reality star continued, “Awards don’t really make me tick. They don’t really make my heart beat like that but this one, being that it’s from the people, this one means a lot to me.” 

Koko also added that she doesn’t feel “worthy” of being recognized as the standout star of the show, saying, “That is sort of hard for my brain to understand.” 

She also said in the caption of the post: “I feel terrible I wasn’t there. Damn these migraines! Ugh ok I’ll stop rambling. I’m just so taken aback and excited 🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♀️ wow! I still can’t get over this ♥️.”

Fans noted that the rest of the Kardashian gang wasn’t present for the ceremony either. Other stars graced the red carpet to celebrate the awards show. Celebs like Megan Fox, Jennifer Aniston, Sydney Sweeney, and Billie Eilish, to name a few, walked on the 49th annual red carpet event.

For those who don’t know, this is the sixth time Khloe has won a People’s Choice award, making her one of the few to win that many. Besides Khloe, Ellen Degeneres and Taylor Swift have also won numerous People’s Choice awards, with a total of twenty awards each. 

Some of the other notable winners of the 2024 awards ceremony include Ryan Gosling, Margot Robbie, and America Ferrera for their box office hit Barbie, under various categories. Additionally, The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White won Comedy TV Star of the Year, while Pedro Pascal and his show The Last of Us won Male TV Star of the Year and Drama Show of the Year, respectively.

The award show was hosted by none other than Simu Liu, and the ceremony also paid tribute to two icons: Adam Sandler and Lenny Kravitz.
