Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker Are Considering a Surrogate for Their Second Child
After welcoming their first child together last November, the new parents are eager to add another family member to their brood as early as next year.
Kourtney’s pregnancy in 2023 was not the easiest. She even underwent an emergency fetal surgery to save their son’s life. Despite the challenges, the couple knew that it was all worth it, especially when they saw their baby, whom they named Rocky. Because of the difficulties they encountered, the couple is considering using a surrogate next time.
Reality star Kourtney is already mom to 13-year-old Mason, 12-year-old Penelope, and 10-year-old Reign, whom she shares with ex-partner Scott Disick. The Poosh founder admitted that she was unprepared for the fear she experienced while carrying Rocky given that her three earlier pregnancies were relatively easier.
A source close to the couple revealed, “Kourt had a difficult pregnancy with Rocky. She and Travis are beyond blessed that it worked out the way it did. It was touch and go for a moment, but everyone is healthy and happy, and it has made them want even more children together.”
The source continued, “This pregnancy challenged their love for each other in such a way that it is even better than it was—it makes people vomit with all the lovey-dovey high school-related PDA they share. Since Rocky is so young and they are enjoying him, next year would be the soonest time to start thinking about more kids.”
“They have talked about trying for another child, but this time around, they would likely go through a surrogate. It is a consistent conversation between them that hasn’t changed to a ‘no.”
Recall that Kourtney and Travis’ fans went into a frenzied panic when Travis’ band, Blink-182, announced that some of their European tour dates were postponed due to an urgent family matter. Because of the emergency, Travis made an unscheduled trip home while on tour.
Days after the news, pictures of Travis and Kourtney leaving an LA hospital emerged. Later, Kourtney used her Instagram account to thank the incredible doctors who saved their baby’s life. Kourtney has an impressive 224 million followers on Instagram so well wishes, comments, and messages of hope flooded her account.
Before the pregnancy, Kourtney and Travis struggled to have a child. In 2022, Kourtney even went through IVF procedures in hopes of conceiving. Unfortunately, it didn’t work and even left the reality star with plenty of health issues, including depression.
In one of the episodes of their reality show, The Kardashians, Kourtney shared more details on her awful IVF experience. During one of her confessionals, she admitted that the medication she was taking triggered menopause.
She relayed her thoughts about it, saying, “I think because I’m so clean and careful about what I put into my body, it’s just like having the complete opposite reaction and working as a contraceptive instead of helping us. I have everything in the world to be happy about. I just feel a little bit off and not like myself. Super moody and hormonal, like I am a lunatic half the time.”
After just a year of stopping IVF treatments, Kourtney conceived naturally and the couple announced their pregnancy in June 2023.
Should Travis and Kourtney proceed with surrogacy, it won’t be the first time that the Kardashians will go through it. Kourtney’s sisters, Kim and Khloe, both had children via surrogates.
