Pink Shares How Her 18-Year Marriage Was on the Brink of Divorce

Marriage takes a lot of hard work. If either party is a public figure, it becomes twice as hard. So, it was perhaps not that surprising to hear Pink share that her tumultuous marriage with her husband, Carey Hart, had its fair share of trials.

The 44-year-old singer posted on her Instagram account and paid her husband of 18 years a tribute on the day of their anniversary. She admitted that they almost didn’t make it—not just once but several times.

Alongside her post were photos of her and her husband throughout the years. Some of them go back to the start of their relationship. Pink and her racer husband have been romantically together for 22 years now.

Considered one of the most popular singers in the United Kingdom, Pink married Carey on January 7, 2006.

Born Alecia Beth Moore, she started her post with, “Love is a lifetime of coming back to the table. We almost didn’t make it to this one, well, a couple of them, if I’m being honest.”

Sharing her love story with her impressive 10.5 million followers, she said, “When I met you 22 years ago, I just wanted someone that wouldn’t lie to me.” She also admitted that she didn’t have a clue about commitment, building a life together, intimacy, or trust. Pink admitted, “It’s f***ing hard.”

As they got older and more mature, their relationship became their teacher. Pink shared how she was humbled by Carey’s loyalty, history, forgiveness, and resilience which all surprised the singer.

Pink also mentioned that she was in awe of “how love rearranges itself and reappears after an empty night or five.” She declared, “I’m proud we made it to the other side of this year. I wear our scars proudly. You are my stubborn, beautiful, immovable rock.”

The “Get the Party Started” hitmaker continued, “The family we’ve built and the stories we have weaved together and the memories we continue to make are worth more than a thousand million awards that anyone could give me.”

She ended her post with a sweet and loving declaration: “I love you, and I love us.”

It was a delight to see the couple’s journey through the photos that were uploaded. Fans loved seeing their baby-faced days and the couple’s newer shots. They also had pictures with their children, 12-year-old Willow and 7-year-old Jameson.

Recall that Pink and Carey met in Philadelphia during ESPN’s X Games. They separated temporarily in 2003 before Pink proposed in 2005. The singer publicly and boldly held up a sign asking Carey to marry her while he was in the middle of a race. When Carey didn’t pull over, she unveiled another sign that read, “I’m serious!” Carey then stopped his vehicle to accept his girlfriend’s proposal.

Staying married for so long is a massive feat for a couple, especially couples who are in the public eye. So, to Pink and Carey, happy anniversary!
