Michael Bolton Underwent Surgery Over the Holidays for Brain Cancer
Much to the shock of his friends and followers, Michael Bolton shared that he had been diagnosed with brain cancer before the holidays. After Christmas, he immediately underwent surgery.
The 70-year-old “When A Man Loves A Woman” hitmaker shared the updates on his Facebook page. He wrote, “I want to start by wishing everyone a very happy and healthy new year! I also want to share that 2023 ended up presenting me with some very unexpected challenges.”
“Just before the holidays, it was discovered that I had a brain tumor, which required immediate surgery,” he added. Trying to keep positive, Michael continued his post with, “Thanks to my incredible medical team, the surgery was a success. I am now recuperating at home and surrounded by the tremendous love and support of my family.”
In his post, Michael explained that he will be devoting his time and energy to his recovery. Hence, he will be taking a temporary break from his tour.
The post read, “It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show, but have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon.”
The performer also expressed his extreme gratitude for the love and support that people have shown him through the years as a performer. Michael ended his post with, “Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart, and I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can. Much love always, M.B.”
Seconds after Michael’s post, social media users were quick to leave their comments of love, hope, and well wishes for the beloved singer and songwriter. Some encouraged him to take his time and focus on his recovery.
According to Michael’s official website, the “Go The Distance” singer has several tour dates for next year. His music tour is supposed to kick off on February 1 in Florida.
The year 2023 has been a busy and productive one for the singer according to The U.S. Sun. Aside from his appearance as the Wolf in The Masked Singer television series, he also performed during the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade.
In the pre-recorded special hosted by Julianna Hough and brother Derek Hough, Michael performed “Joy To The World,” a classic song for the holidays.
Last year in June, Michael also released his album, Spark Of Light, which contains songs like “Just the Beginning” and “Beautiful World.” During that time, Michael said that he wanted to spread positivity and happiness during difficult times with his music.
During his talk with People, Michael mentioned, “We were basically observing our friends and family and seeing that they all really needed some light, that it was so dark and oppressive, and basically we were all just carrying layers of fear to our every day.”
The singer continued, “And so we started to feel a sense of responsibility to deliver hope and promise and all these feelings that seem to be so elusive, and it started to become a feel-good record.”
